The total excess carbon dioxide emission is a major challenge facing mankind in the 21st century. To implement the national "dual carbon" goal, Hebei University has set up the Research Center for Solar Driven Carbon Neutrality to conduct research on carbon emission reduction and carbon conversion based on solar energy conversion technology, including photocatalysis, photo-thermocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, etc. The center is committed to the theoretical design and construction of the conversion of chemical energy, heat energy, and electric energy from sunlight. With the goal of carbon neutrality, the center is mainly engaged in the research and large-scale development of light-driven hydrogen energy production, light-driven carbon dioxide recycling, light-driven pollutants treatment, and other aspects.
Facing major scientific issues in the field of "dual carbon", the research center will promote joint innovation of multiple departments and disciplines, collaborate on key technological breakthroughs, and cultivate high-level talents in the "dual carbon"field. The center will promote exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign universities, research groups, local governments, and domestic and foreign enterprises, carry out academic exchanges and scientific and technological dissemination activities, and make great contributions to the achievement of the "dual carbon" goal.
The team led by Prof. Jinhua Ye has been engaged in the construction of new photothermal systems, design and macro controllable preparation of multifunctional nano-catalysts, light-driven the conversion of carbon-based molecules, photothermal catalytic hydrogen production and industrial exploration. The representative achievements of the center have been published in Nature Commun., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Energy Mater., ACS Nano and other highly influential journals and undertake multiple projects at the national, provincial, and enterprise levels.
