
Jinhua Ye received her BSc from Zhejiang University, China, in 1983, and her Master and PhD from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1987 and 1990, respectively. She has worked in National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, from 1991 to 2023. She served as the Director of Photocatalytic Materials Center of NIMS from 2006-2011, Director of Environmental Remediation Materials Unit of NIMS from 2011-2016, and a Principal Investigator at International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (WPI-MANA) of NIMS from 2007-2023. She was also a Professor of Joint Doctoral Program in Graduate School of Chemical Science and Engineering, Hokkaido University, Japan from 2008, and the director of TJU-NIMS Joint Research Center, Tianjin University, China, from 2011-2021. She is now a full professor and the Director of “Research Center for Solar Driven Carbon Neutrality” at Hebei University. She is also an Emeritus Researcher of NIMS, and an Invited Professor of Hokkaido University, Japan.
Her current research interests focus on the research and development of photo functional materials and their applications in the fields of environment preservation and new energy production. She has contributed more than 772 high impact research papers (including those in Nature, Nature Mater., Nature Catalysis, Nature Commun., J. Am Chem. Soc., Angew Chem., Adv. Mater., etc), which have been cited over 71,748 times (h index: 138). She has been admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry since 2016, and also selected as 2016, 2018-2024 Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics), 2022 Pioneer in Energy Research (ACS Publications). She is currently serving as the Associate Editor of ACS Nano, and Science Advances (AAAS).
